Easter Sunday is the centre of the Christian faith. It celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. But Easter is more than a religious event. It speaks to the deep human desire for hope, renewal, and life beyond despair.
The Gospels tell of women going to Jesus’ tomb. They expected to find a lifeless body. Instead, they saw the stone rolled away and heard these words: “He is not here; he has risen.” For Christians, this is not just a symbol. It is a real event—Jesus defeated death and is alive.

What does this mean for our world today?

First, Easter tells us that despair is not the end. The resurrection gives hope in a world filled with war, injustice, and suffering. Even when systems fail, and hearts break, Easter reminds us that love is stronger than death.
Second, Easter is not only about life after death. It is also about change here and now. The resurrection changes how we live—calling us to show kindness and courage and work for justice. The risen Christ sends his followers back into the world—not to run away, but to serve with love.

Finally, Easter teaches us that hope is not a dream. For over 2,000 years, millions have found peace, strength, and purpose in the risen Jesus. The apostle Paul wrote, “If Christ has not been raised, our faith is in vain.” But because he lives, hope lives too.
Whether you are religious or not, Easter challenges all of us. It calls us to fight darkness with light, hate with love, and despair with hope. Easter invites us to believe that the world can change—not just one day, but starting today.
Christ Jesus is risen. And that changes everything.
